The Tornado 2S was the first of the stretched 2
seaters. It sports 2" more headroom and 3" more
legroom in the rear cabin for the occupant in the
back seat. It has full controls in both pilot positions
and moves the aileron push-pull tube from the
forward view of the rear seat occupant (present in
the standard two-seat version) and completely out
of sight. Other Standard features include; Kevlar
aft cabin panels under the engine, all aluminum
skins on the tails surfaces, aileron spades, and
Matco hydraulic disc brakes.
The Tornado above is powered by the Jabiru
3300, giving it rocket-like performance, and yet
can still provide fuel economy in the 4.5 GPH
range.
Both Tornado S models shown here feature the
optional wheel pants. The Tornado on the left
features an optional vertical launch BRS
recovery chute, 26' wing and the Jabiru 2200,
which provides good performance and
exceptional fuel economy at 3-3.5 GPH.
The photo below was taken on a mild summer
day and shows the incredible performance and
power of the Jabiru 3300. Notice this view from
the cockpit window, looking out toward the
wingtip showing the Tornado sustaining a near
45-degree nose-high attitude at an amazingly
slow 42 MPH, yet it is still climbing at 500 FPM
with full power and full back-stick through 7500'
